Winjit: Solving the ROI Problem for IIoT Early Adopters

Makrand Savarkar, Head– Enterprise Solutions

As with any other new technology, companies at the beginning of their IoT journeys must understand and thoroughly address their business case. It is critical to assess how IoT can help meet specific strategic objectives, such as bringing greater visibility into operations, improving customer experience, enabling new business models or driving new or incremental revenue growth in a particular market segment. It goes without saying that IoT and ROI should work as acronyms to each other. A lot of industries are intrigued with the idea of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. The major OEM’s are already in early to mid-stage of adoption. “As of now the everelusive chimera called ROI is still the kicker for adoption. Since ROI is intangible and hard to define or measure, precedents and reference is what the industry is relying on”, says Makrand Savarkar, Head Enterprise Solutions, Winjit.

Based out of New York, with Indian offices at Pune and Bangalore, Winjit is redefining the industrial IoT world through their new age software gateway platform built on Fog Computing. Winjit, for a start is focused on making the first few success stories out of the clients who have decided to invest in this. Winjit aims to demystify ROI and make it tangible and easy to understand. The platform called IoTSense.io, is extended with specific functionality to fulfill the digital transformation needs while bridging the gap between Operations Technology and Information Technology.

Primarily, IoT Sense is an award-winning full stack IoT platform built using open standards and is one of the most versatile, scalable IoT platforms available. At IoT Sense, offerings also comprise technology driven process for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Bridging the Gap between IT & OT
IT and OT have been existing for a long time and need not be reinvented. Therefore, Winjit’s platform approach results in very less disruption, quicker deployments and over all turnarounds. The company also offers on premise solution with perpetual licensing options as Indian customers still shy away from a cloud solution and recurring annual costs. Since IoT Sense is built using open technologies, scaling becomes easy. More so, the layered architecture allows building connections with various technologies and protocols which may be legacy, current or future; hence, reassuring scalability. The platform is also equipped with connects to Winjit’s ML platform called predictsense.io. This delivers the required capability of ML that can be deployed as and when required. Production monitoring, work in progress and deriving OEE charts, are some of the primary functions of IoTSense in the IIoT context. In the near future, the team behind the platform’s design will be extending the functionality to manage assembly operations along with component trace ability solution. Moreover, with their RCM module, the solution will become scalable enough to manage a multi-location, and multi production enterprise.

With a strong technofunctional team, Winjit has been working with the industries for other solutions which help the company in understanding business problems and needs. With such dynamic approaches in the IIoT domain, Winjit shows a promising business workflow to the companies struggling to step into or flourish in the IIoT space.
